Old Dolan frame off EBay, resprayed 'Cappuccino'
9 speed Shimano box in the garage groupset
10 year old Mavic Cosmos wheels

It will do, won't it?

It's gets its first testing at the Rapha Supercross next weekend; never ridden cross before and figure if I go out this week on it I'll only worry how different the handling is to my Solaris so just going in blind.

It's had road wheels and guards on pre cross build so I know it rides like an oil tanker.

What could possibly go wrong......

This season I've been using ancient Cosmos wheels with no problems, apart from when I side slammed the front into the course and put it slightly out of true.

And some of my transmission goes back a lot longer.

Are you the doctor who I was talking to at TransWales last year? working in Swansea at the time?

I've always been a fan of the Shimpanoloramcompe Box-in-the-garage groupset. Needs a little fettling but works a treat.

Just like mine and nearly every cross bike you'll see being raced at weekends. I'm on 2004 105, though just fitted a new CX50 chainset.

My old story. Years ago when I was returning to cross I was late for my first race at Blenheim palace. I saw the riders already on the start line, and was taken aback by the sheer quantity and quality of the bling. Then I glanced back and saw some riders and jerseys I recognised still milling about. Did a quick double take and noticed some 1st cats and sponsored riders, but they were on stock Giants and Kinesis jobs. The race containing the bling was the beginers/novices race. I never saw one of those novices ever race again.
