Couple of hours out with Mrsstu.
Just local setting up the new bike.
First impressions are good. Shouldn't take me long to have it how I want.

We finished early and are out in the Peak with the camper for the weekend.
Dropped the Enduro off at 18 Bikes for them to fettle the gears. Been out for a long walk with the dog. Might get out for a blast later.

First public transport-assisted ride for well over a year. Out to Clapham, back to Skipton.

Showers mostly dodged successfully.

Quick local blast after building up my replacement signal frame. Turns out mine had a flat spot on the head tube which meant the upper bearing didn't sit flush and the seal kept popping out. New one is super shiny.

We managed to get out last night and do some of the stuff off Win Hill. However the rain started about 4 this morning and hasn't let up at all

[img] [/img]

Change of plans for today so its on with the waterproofs and will do some walking now I've picked the Enduro up.

Great service once again from 18 Bikes 😃

A bit of gravel and a bit of MTB plus my daughter was doing a different kind of riding on Saturday morning. Thankfully managed to catch some decent weather in between the rain and sleet.

No pictures this week - a ride in the rain this (warm!) morning on the road with mrs_oab. Lovely green spring, err, springing.

I also spent yesterday getting vaccinated and helping raise £1k for the Indian hospital I was born in - currently having a torrid and heart-breaking time dealing with Covid. I've never washed so many car...

Skills course with Katy Curd on Friday. Didn't take any pics but fab session. Will be doing another one.

No time to practice this weekend, so a quick hour on the Tempest

https://flic.kr/p/2kXAT7f

Testing new chainrings, bar bags and a few other bits of kit. King Alfreds Way 2 weeks tomorrow. Very much looking forward to that.

Only the one today. Bit of a chat at one point with a woman who mentioned Strava hooligans carving up her kids. I was 10m off line and on her land as the GPS won't beep that close to the track.

Went for a steady spin around Kentmere, still fairly dry just the usual ever present water splashes.

The middle part of the Three Rivers descent is suffering an expanding waistline - why can't folk stick to the track? It's definitely not walkers, the grass on the new lines is worn in one direction and it's just tyre tracks.

Managed to get out to Afan today to ride W2.

Expected it to be a bit wet but was shocked at how badly the trails have suffered since my last visit just before lockdown No1! Some of the sections were more underwater and basically streams than even Penmachno. Lots of bits that are in dire need of repair with one particular bit on Tyn Y Pan pretty dangerous. You used to fly over a small lip and land on some rocks but they're now all loose as the mud holding them steady has been washed away, sunk into them deep enough to ground the chainring and how the hell I didn't OTB or slide off the trail I don't know.

Still good to be out though!

Only just back from a lovely Long weekend with MrsReady in the Isle of Wight, so I'm a bit late but..

Spent a day at the IoW MTB Centre. Pretty small, lots of fun, but the potential is MASSIVE!

Spent another day exploring Brighstone Forest. Some pretty tasty runs split into 2 areas. One side steep and technical (Crashed!), and the other fast & flowy (Crashed again!)

I'd like to go back to explore some of the (excellently signposted) bridleways and have a nice pootle around. Recommended!
