Actually it may be 'not curtains'
Just had a woman round measuring for some curtains for the living room, full drop both ends about 23 mtrs of material, apparently. (@£19.50 per mtr) So, how much for the curtains? IE including the making of them.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to get a brickie round and just brick it up?
I take it the purchase of new curtains is being driven by a a woman 😆
I'm the curtain expert on here.
A) Are you having them made properly? If so, what type of heading? E.g. Pencil pleated tape or something like handmade triple pleats.
B) what length of rail/pole and what size drop.
C) Are they lined or even interlined.
Answer all these and I'll try and help you.
P.S. This is the wrong forum 🙂

I take it the purchase of new curtains is being driven by a a woman No, It's being driven by the fact there aren't any up.
Bunnyhop, you lost me at A!
All I know is this woman turns up in a newish BMW & she's from a curtain shop in Wetherby so I'd assume they'd be made properly.
The windows are 6ft & 7ft with a 7ft drop & the curtains were gonna be lined.
http://www.queenshill.com/ is your friend.
As fancy fabrics as you like, and tons of choice, but the cost of making them up is tiny compared to most places.
We had curtains quoted from a local shop at about £2000, and from queenshill, even with similarly fancy fabric, it was £700.
For normal curtain making places it appeared to be about 4xmaterial cost, queenshill was well under 2xmaterial cost.

A guestimate, based on a 3" pencil pleated heading tape.
4 widths in each window ( this is double fullness):
Approx £180 to make
" £ 89 for 18.5 metres of lining
" 19.5 metres of fabric, if there is a pattern this could be more.
If there is a fancier heading this could be more too.
HTH.
Thanks for that Joe. Anyway this woman says.....£1060.00!
I took her out the back (not literally of course)& said, 'see that patio & garden area, well there's a bloke coming soon for 4 days to re-do it with Indian Sandstone (Raj Green) & put some decking down in the corner, It's also a proffessional outfit & he's charging £2500.00 including materials! ( & it's a fair bit bigger area than the ****in curtains!)
Think I'll learn how to make curtains.
ikea?
next time wait until the patio is dug up before inviting the curtain lady round. Makes it so much easier to bury her if you dont have to lift the slabs yourself
Bunnyhop, it's 23 mtrs @ £19.50 a mtr & she mentioned a 'width & a half'

i dont know.....1st we had blokes talking about shaving.............now ****ing curtains......... 🙄
and a ****ing yorkshireman too............. 😉
We have some curtains on our french doors. We were quoted £360 to have them made, so Mrs PP bought the exact same material, from the same shop, and made them for about £100... It's top quality material too.
In the same vein we wanted some blinds for the front windows. We got a quote from a local blind maker/specialist and it was over £300 + fitting for the front window.
But there's custom blind makers online (who will send samples out) and we had it made for £110. It fits perfectly and look superb.
I'm telling you now, go online and look, you're gonna save yourself a PACKET!
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
have your current curtains stopped working that you need new ones? 🙂
and a ****ing yorkshireman too.............

TBH they must've cost an arm & a leg. Swags & tails in some fancy material, it was like being at the theatre. Wev'e been in here over a year & their time was up!
PeterPoddy - are you trying to put me out of business 😉
I don't know, you chaps will spend £100s if not £1,000s on bike and bike bits, but when it comes to soft furnishings it's OMG!
Cant believe no-one has mentioned beef yet?
