You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Oh dear not again.
Sad
I was certainly riding a "tracker" around the woods before 76.
Hahahaha!!!
Mate, I swear that one day you'll claim to have invented the wheel!!!
Please dear god no, this is worse than brexit threads🙁
Wow I've now been on STW long enough to recognize that username.

Is it worth starting to look for a correlation between this thread coming round again and phases of the moon or turning of the seasons to see if there is a pattern?
Well I enjoyed it Charlie - thank you 🙂
Say what now?
I think the disconnect here is between the american "blow your trumpet" and the UK "understated bashfulness"
There is no doubt at all people were modifying and riding the modified bikes offroad well before kelly - from the ruffstuff riders to those like me who modified their bikes to hack around the woods.
What kelly and his buddies did was codify and create a type of DH racing and to comercialise this
they did not invent mountainbiking. They were a key part of developing and commercialising mountainbikes
The thread that keeps on giving! 'I was doing it before you!' 'No, I was!'
Silver haired panto dames assemble! 😆

It’s behind you!

I looked at the date of the article linked and its recently been published.
It’s behind you!
Oh no it isn't!

I think the disconnect here is between starting a world wide phenomenon and having no impact whatsoever. Fair play to the RSF but none of us would be here now if the Marin crowd hadn't done their thing.

Weirdly, even the article says us Brits were at it long before....
In England, beginning in 1955, members of the Rough-Stuff Fellowship rode bicycles outfitted with fat balloon tires through places like the Chiltern Hills. And throughout the 1970s, people in the United States rode bicycles off road for fun in Santa Barbara and Cupertino, as well as in Crested Butte, Colorado, where the Pearl Pass Tour endurance ride through 40 miles of rocky, high-altitude terrain was launched a month before the first Repack race.
I think the disconnect here is between starting a world wide phenomenon and having no impact whatsoever. Fair play to the RSF but none of us would be here now if the Marin crowd hadn’t done their thing.

My dad claimed to have invented mountain biking in the Lake District. The family resemblance is pretty good so I'm pretty sure I wouldnt be here now without him 🤣
Where is Scotroutes clip of people racing mountainbikes well before kelly. Racing XC at that.
OK. I'm closing this not because it's Groundhog Day but because the OP is a link with no other commentary and this isn't Facebook. Feel free to try again with some actual content.
