I rode this ride last year, on the Ross of Mull:

It was absolutely spectacular, though I'd class it as "adventure" riding -- involved a bit of walking and serious map reading to find my way.

The loop of the island is a brilliant ride on the road bike, the descent to Calgary bay and everything between there and Tobermory are memorable, and recently resurfaced if I remember correctly. Just take your short-sharp-climbing legs...

This site has not been updated in a while, but there are some good looking routes.

Take the bike for sure. Live on Island and got few varied routes hidden away all round the Island. Lot do require a wee bit of work to find and follow. weather is the big factor as some are pretty grim if it has been raining much, like it is now. PM me for bit more info.

Just be careful with dates over the coming weeks. Wouldn't want a mishap with a recce-car or rally car.

See dates here http://mullrally.com/

Plenty of places to go, myself and Islander have covered every ridable part of the island but you do need to know where you are going.

Staying near Dervaig, really looking forward to it although will probably not get a chance to ride as we are there to visit a friend who moved up from Somerset and I hear talk of paint brushes! .......... arrrghh!

Well I have to say we were very very impressed with the Island and will be returning in the near future!

Idyllic is a good word to describe it!

We were there on Friday, even though we had the bikes with us, it seemed that local knowledge was needed.
We walked around Kerrera instead of riding and really wished we'd ridden as the trail was easy to follow. Brilliant wildlife on both islands.

It's not very idyllic for the next 10 days with the rally on next weekend, safer to be of road with all the rally fever about 😀

I had an interesting week there some years ago.

One day we had a walk along to Carsaig arches. It was blistering hot, we saw deer, I stood on a snake, we happened across a beautiful woman stripped to the waist collecting cockles/whelks whatever on the shoreline after the tide had gone out, had some of the best fish and chips ever from the van on the quayside at Tobermory and in the evening went to the pub and watched Engerland playing wendyball and half the cast of Balamory turned up.

Ha ha, guessing the woman was a traveller, they don't often believe in material things, that must include clothes.

We saw a lot of the rally drivers on the way to Mull today, must be going up early to get some practise in.
