Oldest (10) has got a 24" Ridgeback but has shot up,recently and is already nearly out growing it. Just about to pick up an islabike for the youngest one so the oldest is thinking of an Islabike for her. Are the 26" ones worth having or should I be looking at something else?
Cheap second hand "adult" bike in a small size for Islabike money perhaps?
Ours came out of Islabikes around 9/10. Youngest is same age and just got a small (14 inch) Genesis Core 20. His bro is 13 and on a Cube Acid with a 15 inch frame. Air forks and deore min spec keeps weight manageable
The only 26'er left in the family is my Soul 🙂
She's never gonna be a mountain biker so want to avoid suspension forks really.
Although my daughter is on her 3rd Isla I don't think they are the best bikes but we keep buying them because they are light and the resale value makes them very cheap to own. When it's time for a 26" bike I doubt very much I will buy an Isla. Instead I will probably find a small frame and build her something. All her islas so far have had terrible bearings and headsets that have no sealing from the elements which isn't a major problem but annoys me considering the price. Rubber sealed bearings instead of metal would cost pence extra and would reduce this.
Should be able to get a rigid/hybrid 26er with decent components pretty cheap surely?
