i noticed today that when front brake applied that when rocked back and forth there is a slight movement like the headset is loose but it isnt, its not the caliper or rotor, ive held where the stanchion enters the leg of the fork and its got play there. is this normal or is it a sign that the bushes are worn and its time for a service/replacement of bushes?
thanks for any help given.
Play, as in the rock in/out towards the brace (probably worn bushings) or the legs move up/down within the fork leg lower
back and forth rather than up/down
suspect worn bushings but is a small amount normal? is it a big job to replace bushings on reba wc's ?
Should be no movement at all, suspension specialist job I'm afraid
best to do that sooner rather than later to stop stanchion wear I suppose? what is the likely cost then 🙁
Some forks have some movement normaly but I dont think rebas are one of them.
IIRC modern forks arent serviceable anymore, so worn bushings mean new lowers.
just looked on tftuned and its £90 for a service on rebas. which is worth it with a turn around of 1-2 days which is pretty impressive, think they will last a few more rides till get paid at end of month then off they go for a service.
Indeedy, normal service (there hardly likely to want to strip & clean the rest for free) & bushing resize looks to be about £75 + £40 + P&P glancing @ loco's site (other places such as j-tech sus & TF tuned may have slight differences in charges but will be around the same)
Edit: does the tf tuned price include the bushing (normally extra)? Also most places do a 1-2 day turn around, bear in mind you will need to book a time slot, they might not be free to do it next day without a booking
