Just trying plus wheels and moving from a lightweight 26er they seem heavy. So have just weighed my boost 27.5 wheel incl Nobby Nic 3.0 tyre, rotor and thru axle and it comes in at 1850gms.
Seems like a very decent weight to me.
A lot of the b+ tyres are 800g-1kg so no not really. Take the alpkit wheels, these are listed as Front Wheel Weight: 1208 g, Rear Wheel Weight: 1309 g. Add 800g of tyre to the front wheel and your over 2KG just for the front. Your way under that and have somewhere between 150g and 250g of rotor and axle in that value.
It's not horrible tbh. But yes it'll always be heavier than a light 26er, you have like twice as much tyre and a good chunk more wheel on there. Plus is not for lightweight.
I think you're doing well to achieve that weight tbf.
Not sure what mine weigh but I reckon more and that's with 2.8'' NN
I noticed the difference in weight in moving from Hope 29er with Bonty tyres to Alpkit 650b+ with WTB tyres, that was just lifting them up rather than using scales.
whitestone, that was what I noticed, just lifting the wheel ... and prompted me to weigh it
hmm. i weighed my hope pro4 enduro wheel, 2.35 trailstar ( IIRC ) hans dampf, cheap-ass clark's rotor ( 210 ) and it came out at about 2600g ( ish ).
the el guapo hubed wtb scraper 40, same rotor type, with 2.8 DHF came in at about 130g more.
front wheels in each case and both hubs are boost.
this is not like me, weighing stuff, and i feel a bit feint. pleasantly surprised by the comparative weights though, one vs the other, however compared to the OP's it made me go 'eek'.
i also compared the diameters while i was there being all geeky. the + dhf is about 25mm smaller in OD.
Nobby Nic 3.0 tyre
If memory serves the 3" is quite a bit heavier than the 2.8. I've run both sizes (admittedly WTBs, not Schwalbes) and I'm going back to 2.8s on both ends.
