Thank you.
That is the chain when the shock is fully compressed.
Did you take any links out?
As above, you need to cycle the suspension through its full range of travel to be sure. You would not want the chain any shorter than that.
i think the old rule of the chain length does not applied anymore to 12 speed - You have to add 5 or 6 links now, not just 2 extra
Think I'd b happy enough if that's it with the shock bottomed.
Long as you can still change up, it's fine. It's when it locks like that and the mech can't move that the chain's too short.
Typically the effective chainstay length is greatest at full travel but it doesn't have to be, so it's worth checking where in the travel is greatest.
Ideally, it needs to be able to shift into lowest gear while bottoming out, not just running in that gear as it bottoms out.
Longest effective chainstay, wrap around largest sprocket and chainring, then add a pair for the rear mech. Two pair would be nice, but chances are, you'll not be able to take up all that chain slack with shortest effective chainstay on the 10T cog though. If you tweak the B-tenstion screw to add chain tension, you risk moving the top jockey too far from the cassette and messing up the shifting.
In reality, I don't think I've ever bottomed out my suspension in lowest gear though but you're best off planning for worst case.
