I want it. It's just a dream of sorts atm, and have just sold my MTB, the one I swore I'd never sell again 😕 - but have to look to the future. I'll be back, just maybe in a different format. And no nonsense about 'cheating' - fingers are in ears, you try regular everydaycycling around Combeington Hamstreuhng and you'll get the gist...

Anyway - am I mad or is this a flipping great setup for the dosh? Hopefully in a few years the tech and prices will be even better...

Looks like a good deal - eBikes are a great thing, i tried a 29er fs one and a 650b+ one at Core the other week, bigger tyre definately helped compared to the narrow 29er but they are so much fun and the effort required to ride them quickly is a lot lower - could enjoy a commute as opposed to it being a grind on days 3/4/5 - plus you can lower/increase assistance when you feel like it.

That does indeed look pretty tidy! Got the correct power pack (Bosch or nothing, folks) and a nice build overall. Obviously, I'd prefer to try one out first.....!

Have you tried one of these yet, MR? Not necessarily this model, just ebikes in general.

yeah it looks an ok deal.
i have a cube pedelec, same motor/battery as the one in your link, i went camping at the weekend on it, managed 35 miles fully loaded, i weigh 20 stone, i can normally lift this bike in and out the car no problem, but loaded i couldn't get it off the ground.
the battery was half full when i got back home, i mostly used eco mode (the lowest) but turned it up a couple of times on hills.

Only a Kalkhoff Sahel (compact), similar motor/battery and was suitably impressed for the short demo ride. *

Anyone know does the Bosch on the Radon have regenerative braking?

*Edit - oh yes, that and Mrs MR's home-brew electric recumbent - a brutal, heavy and noisy affair with lead acid leisure batteries and a motor that weighs as much as the trike. Now reverted until better options sourced.

Martymac that sounds good, pics or it didnt happen 🙂

lol, i didnt take any pics of the bike, i used a pair of altura orkney panniers full to the brim, with a 3 leg foldaway stool, tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat on top.
5 litres of water too.
my bike is a cube reaction pro, retails at £1799, comes with pretty basic brakes/forks/wheels for that price.
so, i reckon the one above is a good deal.
'bosch or nothing' +1

looks fine and dandy. the thing that matters on a ebike is a good motor/battery. it has one.
all the mtb stuff is just prettying it up. most mtb stuff is not designed to work on a 20/30kg bike.

This is true. The extra weight* needs to be taken in to account. Look for uprated wheels, tyres and brakes as a minimum.

*No, not you, Ton! 🙂

I've worked the bike out to weigh about 18kg tops. (11-12kg listed for the non electric ZR Race with same spec + 6.5kg as listed for the motor, drive/gear gubbins and battery)

Would XT hydraulics, Fox Floats and Cross 1's not be up to it? Surely the extra weight is only a stone, where rider body weights usually vary more than a stone for any given frame size?

the problem with the 2 ebikes i had, were wheels built to a standard spec, and forks bottoming out.
my khalkoff came with 28 spoke shimano wheels. my haibike came with fox air forks.
on a suspended bike with the extra dead weight of the motor and battery (the bosch weighs a fair lump ) the wheels died quickly and the forks were swapped for good air forks (pikes).

also i weighed 23 or so stone whilst riding a pedelec.

^^^ completely correct, an extra 10kgs on the bike isnt that much compared to the total weight including rider.
however, the bike isnt quite as 'flickable' as a similarly priced normal bike imo.
that didnt put me off at all though, ive probably ridden more in the month ive had this than i have all year, its just a bit easier, therefore more likely to happen.

Hmmm, not looking so good a deal now once factoring in possible re-speccing with beefier wheels and forks. Right, back to dreaming .... 8)

16.9lbs!!! -

Been eyeing up one of the Dillinger 250w kits.
Looks quite simple to fit...motor is in front wheel, battery attached to bottle mounts, connectors colour coded...could even do it myself!
Can't wait till I can get my hands on one as having doubled in weight, most hills appear huuuge at the moment.
Just got to start saving...

^^. I'll take two, one in gunmetal grey, and one for guests 😀

Looks like a lot of fun - a lot of expensive fun - and I'd suggest helmet and leathers as standard spec while the pedals seem superfluous?

In seriousness, for me the ideal pedelec MTB would be closer to that 16.9lb Scott Scale (22lb with a 800 watt/hrs battery) - I always preferred flicking around on lightweight hardtail XC rather than being perched in a heavy lump flattening out the bumps. Some mid-drive assist for more rapid and more numerous climbs in a given time-frame (while not being an anchor) would be just the ticket.
