I have some old 66's and they have a proper bolt up 20mm axle its a hassle getting the allen keys out to take the front wheel off. I could really do with the ease of a maxle.

Is there any way to convert the fork/axle interface?

Probably cheap to design and make an allen key holder for you bike?

But I will still have to use the allen key.

And to whoever put that tag up there surely that would add about ½lb due to the 6 allen bolts on just the axle!

I seem to remember a poster on here made something like that and had there own website but I cant remember what the product was.

There was a system in MBUK a few years ago, before MAXLE and QR15 came out, sometime in 2007 possibly. It probably didn't come to much as the manufacturers inveneted their own systems.

Hi m8,
I have 2 bikes, one with 20mm bolt thru and one with QR20. I will take the front wheels off both and see if the axles are interchangeble, then get back to you.

Cheers

Ok I have looked at both axles am I'm afraid there's no way you can use a QR20 axle in a bolt thru fork.
In the centre section both are 20mm, but on the QR axle, about 20mm from the lever end there is a step up to 22mm, meaning there's no way it will go all the way into a non-QR fork. In addition to this on the standard bolt thru design there is a step down to about 18mm at around 20mm from the thread end. The QR one is 20mm all the way to the thread, so it isn't going to fit in the non-QR thread end either.

Here are some pics I took:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I hope that clears it up for you at least.
