You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Desperately need a new dropper post. My reverb has gone. Second one, first was replaced under warranty and now it’s gone again - same issue, corroded at the bottom.
Was looking at the Fox Transfer (31.6, 150mm) but it’s sold out of every store I’ve looked at. Might have to check some threads on here for an alternative. Even like for like Reverbs seem out of stock. Same for general parts - I’ve never seen CRC running so low on stock, even grips and pedals.
Anyone noticed similarities? I would have thought back end stock wouldn’t have been affected this bad with COVID.
Head very much so selling with prices of parts going up quite a bit.
Unsurprisingly really given the amount of bike sales and people getting out on bikes a lot more whilst under lockdown / furlough.
Yes, been like this for months.
People fixing up bikes.
Shops running out of bikes to sell.
Resourceful shops getting frames and building up from parts (so burning through what was left of the stocks).
Just try finding something simple like a Shimano 10 or 11 clutch mech. I've been helping a local shop and using more and more Sunrace stuff because there is simply nothing else left.
Just look at the new bike brands appearing at Planet X - people are scouring Europe looking for stock.
As well as increased demand, stores have probably got issues with supply chains, with factories working at less capacity than normal for quite some time in many countries, due to the earlier Covid restrictions and now have a backlog to catch up on whilst still working under some restrictions. Also, a lot of this will be ordered many months in advance, and any increased demand will have been hard to predict, especially given the doom and gloom in early spring. Finally, despite bike related sales being good, people will be being quite careful in investing in stock, its a tough call at the moment. Generally I've noticed stores putting their resources into the core best sellers, and reducing their width of offering, in all types of retail from outdoor to supermarkets. Less core stuff is therefore perhaps suffering most.
I was thinking of selling my Fox Transfer if you're interested. I think it's 31.6, it's definitely 150mm travel.
Yes. I just got a new groupset for my road bike. Whole groupsets were not in stock anywhere. I kept the price within £30 of what I would otherwise have paid but from 4 shops in 3 different countries. My experience was that everything is in stock somewhere, but it can be a pain to find the shop which happens to have the precise component you want.
There are 2 variants of the Fox Transfer 31.6/150mm in stock at bikester, but I don't know if either is the one you want.
It’s crazy. Looks like I’ll be out a lot longer than I hoped, just as restrictions lifted and the trail centres re opened 🙁
At this rate I’m even tempted just to return it to SRAM for a repair as much as I wanted to avoid that. LBS said they’ve got a 5 day lead at the moment which seems quicker than sourcing and waiting on any parts

R2-Bike
All with good stocks, all ship from EU to UK within a few days.
Problem solved if CRC etc don't have items in.
Thanks Will check them out.
Also not sure if anyone will see this, sill question but can I assume if my current Reverb dropper is 480mm it has 170mm travel length? Just want to make sure I’m purchasing the same height dropper 😂 I should say, I can’t measure it because it’s dropped a few inches and jammed at that height.
Had a freehub on order from Giant via LBS, estimated 2 weeks minimum due to backlog. I managed to find one online next day delivered, so seems to vary.
Yes the chains aren’t sure how they’re going to build bikes for next year. Supply side has fallen over due to Covid 19.
One of the main issues is the bike industry is heavy on airfreighting goods from the other side of the planet just in time. Well airfreight has gone through the roof on cost so distributors just aren’t getting orders in as there’s no margin.
Sorry to break it to you but biking isn’t the green hobby people make out....
Second reason is everyone thought huge recession so cancel everything. So now there’s a six month lead time on ordering means lack of stock is here to stay.
So glad we make pretty much everything in-house. We have sold out of lots of things even though we are flat out manufacturing. But our parts are getting bumped as we do subcontract work for other people.

Yes I’m trying find some Nukeproof Horizon alloy bars 31.8mm and 38mm rise in black. I’ve been looking for weeks.
Hopefully it will pickup soon.
Well airfreight has gone through the roof on cost s
Which I find odd because the of the increase in people using amazon etc (which aren't charging higher prices for shipping). Also there is a glut of capacity. An enterprising person could lease any number of aircraft at the moment, pack it full (okay loading a passenger plane would be a pain) and make a packet.
CRC/Wiggle have both the 150mm and 170mm Brand X Ascend in stock in 31.6mm diameter. Not sure why anyone would buy anything more tbh - it's cheap and reliable, and in stock!

This is happening in other industries.
I can assure you what's written above about flights is an issue. Alot of freight is actually moved around in passenger air craft holds. And with limited passengers moving their limited freight spot so all that's left is the more expensive dedicated freight flights*
* Source.....I have to sit in a 3 hour logistic call every week to find out why I have no equipment to deploy
