A friend of mine's marriage has just ended, he's on his arse and living back with his Mum. To cheer him up i'm trying to sort him a new bike, he used to ride with me years ago and with all this new found free time on his hands now is as good a time as any to start again.
I've got some bits lying around that I want to put to good use, and I'm struggling to find a suitable frame to hang them off. Looking for something that's boost/slack and cheap but i'm not sure it exists.
On one scandal?
That could well be the one - hadn't thought On One, thanks.
Or Hello Dave if you want stupidly slack. On-one prices vary a bit (to say the least) and I think they are currently up so not great timing. Might be worth posting a wanted ad in case anyone who bought a frame in the recent sale has one they want to part with.
I have a Commencal Meta AM hardtail frame on pre order. It's due in at the end of the month. Might be worth having a look at them. There about £400.
What size frame does he need / how tall is he.
I’m looking to sell a Medium Sentier but considering splitting it and selling some parts separately and keeping the ones I want for my new frame when it arrives.
66 head angle /432mm reach / 425mm chainstays / 73 seat angle. The thing flies on flow trails and I’ve done some steel off piste stuff on it with 140mm Pikes. Also done one uplift day at Flyup 417 and on the blues it was a chunk quicker than my full suss (on the reds it was slower obvs).
Sonder transmitter is a great frame too as is the on one scandal I have both 🙂
Dartmoor Hornet?
Large http://calibrebicycles.com/bike/rake/ is showing in stock at Go Outdoors for £479 if that's within budget.
dartmoor primeAL as well as the hornet I think?
NS might have a few but they seem to have gone more upmarket over the years
Not heard of Marino before, looks like I might be giving him my current HT frame and buying myself a new one!
Marino isn’t quite as cheap as initially thought - I’ve just ordered one which is why my Vitus Sentier is for sale.
If you go for 4130 and make sure you do t select any options the frame comes in not too bad (but I think it’s £110 shipping on top plus potentially 20% VAT when it lands) - but it’s easy to go to 725 and then add a couple of options like internal routing / tapered headset etc which quickly bump the price up a bit.
Still cheap for a custom frame though.
