Desperately trying to silence cassette, got through multiple removals, cleans, greases and lockrings, I can't get it to shut up. Yep, have the plastic washer installed. It's definitely tight, barely any indents fron the loose sprockets.
The only thing I can think of that's left is creaking at the rivets between the sprockets and carriers, anyone had this?
It's not your cassette (probably). Can you swap it for another to check..?
Is it an old chain on a brand new cassette?
Cracked alu freehub body?
About 6 week old chain and cassette.
Inspected freehub.
Can get the cassette to creak off the bike with a chain whip. Poking fingers in everywhere when I get it to creak, strongest in cassette. only occurs on cogs which are on the carrier.
Sounds like you've done about as much as you can diagnostically. Maybe drip some oil at the rivets while making it creak just to confirm but sounds like the only cure is a new cassette.
Yep, have the plastic washer installed.
What washer? This is a worrying development!
Washer was a separate piece on XTR but is integrated in XT.
It happened on my 11-51 deore cassette (11sp) rivets came loose. Replaced under warranty
My creaking on drivetrain came from my front chainring bolts and fiddly locking attaching front chainring to the cranks
What washer? This is a worrying development!
Very thin plastic washer at the back of the cassette where it meets the free hub. Designed to stop creaking according to Shimano. I think on newer cassettes it’s actually stuck onto the back of the cassette now rather than being loose as I think so many people were losing them…
Soaked the rivets in penetrant oil overnight, creak is so bad now.
Creaking like this?
If so you need some grease on the weird plastic thing in the hub. Not hard to do
My xtr cassette creaks like **** if dusty. Does my nut in
