Is it? I thought road bikes were now more trendy. Or maybe fixies depending on your definition of trendy.

might be last year already....if the prices on ebay are anything to go by for 8 month old bikes from the post wiggins TdF, Olympic rush of bike buying public 'only been ridden 50 miles' 'selling it as need to buy house' 'was going to get fit' 'now getting a road bike' excuses are trotted out on the descriptions of shiny bikes for sale.

That said I'm ok with that as I'm looking for something for the OH, to replace stolen wheels.

I truly hope not. I almost quit when I saw that photo of good ol' GWB on a mountain bike...

"Trendy"? Nah, but it's got some aspects that are attractive to a Certain type...

There's a vast array of terminology and technical Guff/marketing cobblers with which you can at least seem to demonstrate your understanding and deep connection with the sport to the more recently initiated.

There are ample opportunities to acquire shiny objects which demonstrate your wealth.

And of course there are numerous sub-sets and niches for you to either opt into or sneer at...

MTBing is the new golf, which is of course the old Road cycling and I confidently predict all will be superseded by extreme pony trekking next week...
