I was just idly musing about this. Am looking forward to spending time over that way again once lockdown ends and any tier restrictions ease. I'm OK with not being able to go at the moment, it is what it is.
I'm imagining it's pretty quiet at the moment. Anyone been out that way? Is it actually rammed?
I am prepared to bet it has been rammed throughout.
Not been there since the start of the latest lockdown, but by all accounts the trails are still rammed. Looking forward to the relative quiet of light weekday evenings.
Police were in the carparks a few weeks back, it was that busy
(via a local FB page, I've not been over myself even though it's 5 miles)
When I rode through this morning, the walking bottom carpark was still half empty at 10am.
Rode over to Peaslake last weekend and it was noticeably quieter than I’d seen before lock down (when you had to get to the walking bottom car park before 8:30 to get a space). So a bit busy but not ridiculous
Nice. Good to hear.
I was there last weekend. The outside spaces at Walking Bottom were just about all taken at 11:15 when I arrived, then at 12ish when I returned from the trails people were parked up the middle too.
But still room for more, and nowhere near as busy as November/December. Plenty of space in all the other car parks I passed.
It’s been fairly quiet during the period of snow, but has been much busier during January than it would normally be at this time of year. I rode through one of the holmbury car parks today and it was full. Pre March 2020, it would be normal to see about 2 cars in that car park at most times of the year. So still rammed even in lock down from what I can tell
Rode through earlier and saw three cars, but it wasn't peak time. The ruts at the entrance to Walking Bottom have been fixed. Unfortunately, doing it in the middle of winter means it's now a similar consistency to cow slurry.
