The second attempt at ghetto tubeless with the Kenda Juggernauts that came with the Calibre Dune, appeared to work. I left the tyres at 20psi for 36 hours and they were still solid. So on Monday, as everything seemed to be bone dry and route I was going to take had lots of road between the bridleway sections, I decided to leave them at 20psi and see how I got on.

They rolled really nicely on the road, but I felt every single bump and pebble off road; it was horrific, lesson learned. Anyway, I was bombing down a section of road when I noticed that the backend was getting a bit bouncy. Long story short, I'd picked up a tear in the sidewall, that the sealant wouldn't seal.

Would those tubeless repair anchovy things that you stab through the carcass of the tyre be the thing I should be using to fix this, or is my tyre toast...?

yeah, and anchovy would fix that. weldtite, nutrak or genuine innovations kit. if you're tubeless you'd be daft not to have one of those kits IMO. they make it easy.

As you have posted a pic of the inside and its really clean, stick a good size patch on the inside surface.

@cynic-al @rickmeister I was unsure about an inside patch given the volume changes so much with the fat tyres, I'll give it a go though...

@Del I didn't know they existed till earlier in the week, so will be getting one soon...

Thanks all.

Volume changes?

I've only used anchovies once or twice, aren't they meant for a single smooth hole? That looks a bit ragged.

I'd do a motorbike mushroom on that rather than an anchovy. If you want to give it a go I can post you one, i bought a box of 50 in about 2003 and I've used 2 🙂

"Volume changes?"

Some fatbike tyres stretch like mad.

Sew it with dental floss then patch it?

i must have missed the memo 😉

as they're all squidgy and gluey when they go in they just fill the hole whatever shape it is.
