Tiagra 4700 left sfifter doesn't down shift

The cable looked fine. A small pawl is failing to catch. A squirt of lube helped for a couple of shifts but then nothing. The pawl moves freely but its spring seems weak. I haven't tried fitting a new cable as the pawl doesn't catch even with the old cable removed

So I think it's new shifter time. But I thought I'd check if I'd missed anything obvious

I have an event this weekend that would ideally be ridden on this bike

Yes the front mech is fine. The spring feels quite heavy but friction wise it’s fine

I had this with a set of shifters i had retrieved from someone's bin for a single speed project which then acquired gears. wd40/gt85 soaked over night and then flushed the following day. New cable and works fine.

I think it’s dead. I’ll order the last one from wiggle.

I threaded the cable but kid not releasing even under a light load

Cheers folks
