I ride my road bike with SPD's and MTB shoes - No point in wasting money on 2 pairs of shoes

My stem has 15mm of spacers and almost flat but If its comfortable then who cares

I ride with a camel bac - I get through 2 litres of water in 3 hours (not diebetic but its just me)

I have a peak on my lid - I find it ok so no point in removing it.

The point is if it feels right then its right for you. I dont moan at other MTBers if they dont wear baggy clothes with a peaked helmet and a camelbac.

OP you need to slam that stem and give me a hard stare as we pass. Then stop and take lovely little piccys of your bike mid ride. Oh the ironing.

FTR I've got 20mm of spacers on my race bike as it means I can stay in the drops the whole race. And 5mm on my training bike.

And that top tube mounted bottle looks a bit odd.

You didn't specify it would be mountain biking....

No they're not. And it's against the rules. Again, you're wrong.

I used to make fun of SPDs, but they're actually good man, better cadence.

Here's my bike then, post bike fit. See how many rule breaks you can spot?

White bar tape is so pro.

Here's some mad examples, just because.

(Forget the slam - look at that gear!)

That drop could kill a man.

She slams. Nuff said.

Is it? The rules don't preclude white, but they do have this to say on the topic:

Rule #8
// Saddles, bars, and tires shall be carefully matched.3

Valid options are:

Match the saddle to the bars and the tires to black; or
Match the bars to the color of the frame at the top of the head tube and the saddle to the color of the frame at the top of the seat tube and the tires to the color where they come closest to the frame; or
Match the saddle and the bars to the frame decals; or
Black, black, black

Thankfully, I would appear to be compliant with option 3

There are several purely aesthetic things I agree with though, glasses outside helmet straps for example.

Rubbish - that's a functional thing. Sunnies inside helmet straps is really uncomfortable. The only question of cool here is whether you can take your helmet off without touching your sunnies and leave them in place (I've not yet worked out how to do it the opposite way).

I feel I should point out the reason I use single sided SPDs on my road bikes (I'm surprised nobody's yet thought it through far enough to challenge me on this). It is of course so that I can use my MTB shoes when riding them 😉

Now I know you're trolling! SPDs have clear advantages - more practical for walking in, more user friendly, fewer shoes required etc. but increasing cadence isn't one. You could at least have a valid excuse.

Your tuxedo jersey is against the rules too. Just because it's so shit.

You know Basso uses SPDs? So does Tyler Hamilton man.

Basso uses Speedplay. No idea about Hamilton, I'd have said the same, but the fact you have to refer to a disgraced retired pro suggests there are not 'cadence advantages'...

Well it's not a road bike for a start, anything else is insignificant!

No, they're not! You're still defending this! Sorry, but you can't be such a staunch defender of the 'slam' and not get bullied for using SPDs.

Can we have evidence of Bassos SPDs please? Even having a quick Google I can find one bike with SPD-SLs and 3 with Speedplays.

Or any evidence at all, that using SPDs is better for your cadence 🙄
