2 weeks into ownership and I'm trying to diagnose a slight creaking on my new frame, when I discover this...

Does this constitute a crack?

Hard to tell. Would be getting it looked at by the source of sale.

ENHANCE!

No, just not well finished.

Creaks rarely mean cracks.

Mount on the other side has no scoring or crack like surface marks. Sods law it happens on a long Easter weekend when the dealer is shut!

@Sui - sounds like you have some firsthand experience? Have Ibis been good to deal with? Should I continue to ride it?

Interesting. Not sure i've seen any crack there Sui.

Head to your dealer thinktank and they'll get in touch with us next week.

@ojom - so not just a finishing issue and therefore not rideable?

Looks fine from the pic-looks cosmetic to me.

However it is prudent to get it checked i reckon.

Can you get your dealer to locate the creak? I can call them next week if you like?

Hi Mark - I'll give Mountain Trax a call on Monday.

That's not a crack. It looks like poor material consolidation.
Definitely not purely cosmetic but probably unlikely to cause a problem.
Poor quality control though.

Wow. For £2.5k I'd expect my frame to sing to me (joking). I'd not be happy if it wasn't perfect at that price.

Hard to tell not seeing it in the flesh as it were. To me assuming that's the inside of the part it's not a crack. Looks like that's the outside of the part vacuumed down into a single sided mould. What your seeing is from a wrinkle in the vacuum bag. Carbon doesn't tend to crack its more prone to total catastrophic failure.

I had a mark like that on my Mojo, sent a load of pics to To Pure and turned out it was just a scratch, have kept on riding it with no problem.

Looks normal, some of the finish in Ibis frames leave little to be desired.
