I removed a bottle cage from my carbon road frame at the weekend. When I put the bottle cage screw back in the threaded insert in the seat tube began to spin. The threaded insert/bolt now spins in the frame. I can't see any major cracks, although the paint/lacquer has come of off the threaded insert.

Is this a sign that there's more serious problems afoot, or just the threaded insert worked lose.

If its a size medium I'd say its probably dangerous. Send it to me for safe disposal.

If its not then I'd say its perfectly safe..

It's fine. You can get the old bottle mount drilled out and a new one inserted.

Or you could just drop some strong glue around it to stop it spinning.
