I've got an old 2001 Cannondale Jeykll 900sl frame XL - with a crack in the rear triangle and a dent in the top tube. I've taken all the good bits and used them to build another bike. Question is, is it worth hassle to punt it on ebay, or should I just perform an emotional ceremony to the many many happy times and trails I've spent on it? I loved it so much, the ideal place would be mounted above the mantelpiece, but apparently this isn't en vogue in the House magazines that wifey reads....

Well it's always worth a go...If you are 100% honest in the listing you never know who might want it. Not sure how much you would get for it though.

Thing is Ebay is rubbish for sellers, your listing and selling fee's may leave you wishing you hadn't bothered.

How about a viking funeral?

yeah - I'm thinking Viking may be the way to go. There's a decent frame - i.e. no cracks! - on ebay at the moment - - bids up to about £50, but mine isn't quite so attractive. The forks and shock are ok - perhaps I'll sell those, and leave my frame on the top of "the manny" - the statue on the top of Ben Braggie on the Highland Wildcat trails. It's there that my cannondale started it's demise, after I went over the bars and shagged the front wheel. This led me to buying a new wheel, and new disk brakes. Just as I tightened the last bolt on the rear disk, I spotted the crack in the swingarm!

Windcharm thing sounds good - I'm now thinking of changing this to "what the best use of an old frame". Help me release my creative side.....

Yeah, sell what you can and give the frame a nice send off, sad that it's died but sometimes it worse when you just get just a few £'s for something you have loved. Embrace the new frame and have fun!

Saw off the front end and ...

And when you say the top of the statue on the wildcat trail, that would be an impressive sight seeing your frame over his head say!
