Hi
Trying to get a perfect bleed on the rear brake which I had to disconnect and route the hose internally
I backfilled the hose then nipped up and started bleeding the usual manner
I must have gone through 250ml and there still seems to be air bubbles coming out
What should I try next
Backflush again, tap hoses, I zip tied the lever to the bar overnight. That seemed to help
Its just not as nice a feel as the front
Cheers for any tips the collective stw have
Thanks
Kwack
I had no issues bleeding mine after shortening the hoses, just followed the Hope video. Worth having a watch if you haven't already, it mentions that air can be trapped on one side of the calliper (or something) and how to rectify that.
So in answer to your question - yes, it's possible. Other than watchig the Hope vids, I've got no pearls of wisdom though I'm afraid.
Yes it is. 2 people is best though.
I got a bleed block and covered it with metal tape so I could push the pistons all the way back and wedge it in there really tight to keep them there.
Another thing I found that helps. Open the bleed nipple a lot when you push the lever. Don’t just crack it a little.
I had bleed issues. I found using hope easy bleed ki helped alotx I also removed my rear caliper and bleed it lower than the bottom bracket with a bleed block. Worked a treat after getting air stuck in the loop where the hose hoes bellow the bottom bracket
Are you sure the bubbles aren't just getting around the hose or syringe? I always use the same approach I used for the motorbike, bleed down then bleed back up- air naturally wants to go upwards so it's ime more effective to push it up from the caliper into the reservoir then drain off excess. This is a pain, with hope, because the res is small
I assume all connections are tight, no leaks?
Is the bleed nipple the highest point on the brake caliper? If not you may need to remove the brake caliper from the frame to remove air trapped in the caliper. You can also put the bike at a funny angle in the work stand to air bleeding.
You can gravity bleed Hopes, I have done a few that would not bleed normally due to funny cable routing.
Thanks for all the replies
Will take another look at the hope videos and try the back bleed again
The rear hose does have a bit of a tortuous route as it comes out the downtube and up and over the swingarm
I reckon removing the caliper and letting it hang will help
I have done this plenty of times on older hope brakes no problem so seems strange I can't get this one right
I can see the bubbles leaving the bleed nipple straight into the hose
Cheers
