...is the Giro just a bit less interesting than either the Spring classics or the TdF?
I have come to really Viviani and Ackerman, but beyond that, I can't really say it's been a phenomenal tour so far.
Here's hoping for a better final two weeks!
Yeah, I said on the other Giro thread that the Eurosport presenters started talking yesterday about how boring this year has been. The previous few years have been so good that it's to be expected that we'd have a boring Giro at some point. Hopefully the mountains will inject some excitement, but part of the problem may be that there aren't really many big names racing this year? The route has been dire so far, though. Pretty. but dire. 😀
Well it gets the flat stages out of the way early on so the sprinters can all pack up and leave to prepare for the TdF.
into the mountains on Friday, hopefully it'll get more interesting. Flat stages are always a bit dull
Tomorrow's isn't full on mountain stage but it has a cat 1 30km from the end. Might see some probing going on.
It's been full as ditch water so far this year, route hasn't helped at all, it's been pretty flat and the weather has been crap. At least with the time trials there will have to be some racing in the mountains.
flat, wet, lots of TT akshun
only real excitement has been in the last 20km each day - unless you're a fan of crashes
I suspect the rest of it will be MUCH more interesting though; somebody's going to try to break Roglic on the mountains and I think they might make it but then some other rider may well win (you know, a ded cagey one ... with a "remarkable" show of form so far)
