So I'm waiting on responses from multiple members

Bout 60/40 do not give a budget in their wanted advert & bout same do not respond to ads

Bit pointless really especially when I can donate these parts to a local'ish bike charity
Which I'm now thinking

So yeah ...

WANTED: No time wasters wasting front page 🙄🤣

A mere observation & mini rant

I don't think they get notified of responses in the wanted (or the sale ads) so it can be easy to forget you've even put an ad up. I've done that.Lol

Also, I'm not sure of the current PM situation,ie if it's working or not? I still can't find an east way to pm a seller directly from the ads?

So, I think it's a combination of things really. I think it's best as a seller or a "wanter" to put your email in the ad, that way you don't miss any replies if the pm's don't reach you.

I just can't believe that I couldn't remember the word "buyer" in my post above and instead had to use "wanter".

Wtaf!

It is hard to find your own advert as the links on the classified menu are broken. There is no notifications if someone replies so you need to remember to check periodically. Same for PMs, no notifications just a subtle change to the envelope icon, and that is buried in a sub menu on mobile. It is a bit frustrating.

But please don't forget it's a great improvement on what was there before, its what we ALL wanted aaand it works perfectly on Drac's iPad so stop yer whining...😁

Incidentally, I spent most of my working life in software dev. To speed up the dev cycle, we've adopted the 'if it works on Drac's iPad, it's production ready' approach to test and release. It's really improved productivity. There are major issues in the support/remediation area however but that's not my responsibility so I don't care 😁

To be fair, the "wanted" section always suffered from people posting wanted ads and then being fussy afterwards; that's just human nature and is hardly unreasonable: better to get too many offers than too few.

The lack of notifications (or rather, not just the lack of them but the fact that they disappeared without anyone being told) blows goats, though. I've just noticed one of my ads had a reply on it a fortnight ago—I had no idea. I'm not going to come back and look through my old ads every day just on the off-chance.

It's not helped by the fact that there's also no link (as far as I can see) to PM an advertiser or a respondent, and if you click their names it takes you to their classifieds history but you can't get anywhere else. Basically it's two separate sites that aren't integrated: if you're on the classifieds and you click the envelope icon on the header (which takes you to your messages if you come from a forum page) then you get a 404, because that page doesn't exist on the classifieds site.

The only way I've managed to get things to work is to copy the poster's username, navigate to my own profile page, change the URL to replace my name with theirs, load that page instead, then navigate to the PM bit on their profile page.

Hardly surprising that most people don't bother doing that.

Why don't we get email notification if someone responds to an AD, or even sends a PM. The only notification of a PM is a wee flag at the top of the screen (and even that's hidden on iPhone where I do most of my forum browsing). Often I'm not logged into the site for ages, even though I'm browsing, only when I plan to post. Surely email notifications are the most basic of forum functionality?

Oh, and PMs are horribly broken on iPhone with the messages off the left of the screen, and only viewable in landscape mode.

And the search filters in Classifieds no longer work either.

I want to buy a hardtail. Apparently there are 41 in the classifieds. When I click on hardtails, I just get the error page of someone drinking a beer.

Looks like the notification system was broken by the last update, I'm sure they'll get it fixed.

There is no advert. It was a glitch in the matrix. They have cut the hard-line ,The smiths are coming.

Look, the whole forum is free. You can't expect it to work too. You might think that the recent uptake in P icons would help pay for some more Web development resource but apparently all the money is needed to subsidise the failing magazine.

To be fair unless it's something extremely niche like "WTD: U-turn firm spring from a 2010 Lyric" that someone might have buried in their spares box then I just assume WTD adds are posted by people that think the multiple similar items on ebay auctions at the moment are for some reason above what they consider market value.

could be worse, could be facebook.

"Whats your best cash price mate?"

Starting tho think I should add a 10% cash handling fee for anyone that asks.

To be fair, the mag's improved in the last year or so. The last one I read actually had three similar bikes to review at a price level people might actually be buying bikes at, and made actual comparisons, rather than "we curated 3 £5000-£6000 bikes from manufacturers run by blokes called Simon, although I'm not sure a 10 page article on multi tools was needed.

Need a mukltitool - Topeak Hexus II, next question? I presume everyones choices were based on what they nabbed from the grouptest samples box as I can't see how you can plead poverty then talk about multitools costing multiples of what a less cool one does and don't come with a chain tool.

To be honest because its all on one page I have sold more in the last 4 weeks than the last 4months only thing I would say if people sell there stuff why right sold on it just delete the ad I know STW say right sold but it would clear a lot of ads.

I put a WTD on here as I'd rather give someone here the beer tokens than some random on eBay/facebook.

Come out with something better than I could find elsewhere online.

I would have advertised some stuff, but every category I tried to put it in resulted in an error.

And as above, searching for things is a joke. Click a category and you get the pub geezer, search and it takes you to some news articles about Black Friday Deals

But I have been informed that it's much better than the old system (that worked) so what do I know?

I actually like the new Classifieds, dead easy to upload pics.

I sold quite a bit last week, unfortunately I can't list anymore ads. even though the ones I don't have any active ads but still get this message:

You reached maximum active ads limit. You cannot have more than %d active Ads at once.

I used to use the classifieds many years ago. It was reliable with a lot of advertisers selling good kit at a good price. Since rejoining this forum the classifieds seem quiet stagnant. Is everyone now using PBike?
