I currently run a size M SS Inbred 29er as a backup bike. It's OK but it's a bit on the small side for me (me=187 cm) and not really intended for my 120 mm fork.
Now, I have the opportunity to get a second hand size L Solaris Mk1 but it's still a significant amount of money to shell out for something rather similar so any input on improved(?) ride quality etc. is greatly appreciated.

Surely it depends if you want to run gears? I had a SS inbred 29er and thought it rode well. Not ridden a Solaris.
Yes
Ah, yes gears. I've heard of those 🙂
I guess it's nice to have the option.

You'd certainly hope so.
You'd certainly hope so.
Indeed. Some reviews of the Mk1 Solaris apparently support that idea while others seem a bit underwhelmed. And the improved trailside bragging rights over the Inbred isn't something I care about.
I had a Singular Buzzard for a while and liked it a lot but would like something with a little lighter "springy" feel to it.

Having had a Solaris and now riding a Buzzard, I'd say it depends what you want. Buzzard is heavier, more comfy, and probably more chuck able. Solaris was light, stiff and highly competent at just about everything. I prefer the Buzzard, but it also fits me slightly better, which counts for something.
Thanks for input sheck.
Went for a ride on my Inbred last night and sort of decided against the swap. It's still a respectable chunk of money for something very similar. Maybe I'll get a -1 degree slackset for the Inbred instead 🙂
Cheers
