I've bitten the bullet and realised that due to my medical condition I'm never going to able to ride my road and full-suss MTB bikes again, I'm keeping my Pinnacle Ramin 1 which I can still ride.
I decided to make sure my road bike is in good working order so I can sell it, I need about 30 cm of black gear wire outer and new ferrules. I've looked at 5 or 6 online retailers and they only have greay, white or yellow cable, I refuse to buy a whole new set of inners and outers. Is this because everyone is doing maintenance or that suuplies from the far East have dried up.

Not me. I have a new 4 pot caliper to fit and 2 pairs of forks to do a lowers service on.....but I can’t be bothered as I am not riding just now. But my garden looks great 😂

Yup.

Changed the drive train on the wife's road bike & my turbo trainer bike (figured 20000km was maybe a touch dicy and looking at the power link I removed I was right)
My commuter bike got a new chain cassette and big ring , wife's commuter is waiting on a 9 speed chain and a set of mudguards arriving and it'll get the same.
Her MTB is getting new chain cassette rings and rebuilding her hope minis.
And finally my ti singlespeed got a full strip down and regrease/rebuild.
Juniors rothan got a full strip, grease and polish prior to her birthday in July.

Getting ready to batten down the hatches for redundancy hitting.....it's coming so want all the bikes ready to roll. Been putting it off long enough.

Back to the OP, yes, maintainance happens, but hope prevails.

I am 7 months post a horrible random crash that wrecked my left shoulder in a major way. I sold the bike that I fell off on, happened to be a 7k eMTB on it’s first ride.

Now back riding, albeit road and gravel, but thinking about another eMTB for 2021 (heart issues means I need a wee bit of help on steep bits).

Never give up, I reckon.

Did you try google? I found 3 or 4 shops selling black gear outer in about a minute. Would have been less, but I'm on my phone.

And there's loads on ebay, too.

Yep, didn't have any issues getting a replacement plus separate inners or outers.

Thanks for the thought but I have a chronic neurological condition, as yet undiagnosed but my neurologist told me that whatever it is, it's not going to get better. It's a bit of a wrench selling the bikes but I'll never be able to use them properly, and every time I go into the bike shed they're a reminder of what I used to do.
All the best Hugh

Surely someone can sort you out with 30cm gear outer.

I probably gave some and some ferrules. Do you just want plain ends?

Yup, sure am. While also making such a mess of it I’m keeping the LBS in work!
