So I’m sat watching Mud Cows 2 on youtube thinking “do people make these types of videos anymore?” Blazing Calves too if you remember that? Videos which took the mick out of getting injured, showing big gashes, jumping into massive pools, just general MTB lunacy....has it all got so polished now?

I like the raw look if anything it captures what MTB really is about! The Aussies definitely knew how to entertain!!

BMX scene - sure. MTB has gone too far up it's own arse.

Tommy Caldwell

Some people seem to really like his style. *Shrugs*

Yeah but it's all in minute long chunks on Instagram innit.

Alex Rankin is still doing what he always did

As for the Tommy C Hype, it must be an acquired taste. Watchable with the volume down.

Still the best MTB vid made, mainly as it just feels like a group of fellas playing on their bikes.
Dirt.

Someone always carts Dirt out. I get it, but it's barely watchable now. There's 25 years worth of mostly better stuff available.

I watch mainly bmx videos now that I can do YouTube on the big telly. S&M, Cult crew and Odyssey channels are good. Thrasher channel is amazing for gnarly, bone crunching, street skating.

For mountain biking I watch Vital Raw religiously during the world cup.

See, it depends what you want. That vid still inspires me to go and play on my bike with my mates, and it makes me smile. And that’s what I want from a vid.

In a strange way, it’s the reason I love A Sunday in Hell, I want to go and thrash myself on a road bike after watching it.

The big gnar filled films leave my empty as I’ll never be able to ride like that.

Ahhh glad I’m not the only one! Some of the older MTB vids get a bit samey but when you’ve got people speeding up videos so they sound like chipmunks or doing absolutely bonkers tricks on bike that’s what is interesting! Love the Semenuk stuff etc... but just almost like it to show more personality! Suppose one person who used to be great for that was Warner, oh and also Peaty, yes you’re right Dirt got me wanting to drop my seat and just ride the wheels off my bike! When Mcroy does that manual it just still fills me with respect!!

50:1 are quite entertaining. Mind blowing riding with a 'raw' feeling

Jenvey is down to earth? Quite literally, most of the time. ‘I dun me knee’. ‘Last wik I dun me elbow’ 🤣. My jury still out on whether he’s a fall-guy/clown for the laughs, or 100% straight-up ineptitude + over-confidence. Nonetheless have watched his journey from the start and it’s provided some real laughs and a few worries for his health and sanity.

Aye, I'd far rather watch Dave Jenvey as well! Or the sweary northerners.

I met DJ at ard rock, he's for real, just a genuine if slightly naive young guy.

The Dirt video is mainly awesome for the pseudo music video in it with one of their girlfriends dancing in the background. Spectacularly amateurish.

dirt hasn't aged well in my opinion.

JMC is the standout highlight of it and if it didn't have him in it, it would have been a very small footnote in MTB history.

Chainspotting over Dirt if we're talking old stuff

Tommy C Hype as someone has mentioned is great as a load of the stuff he rides is local'ish to me. As someone has mentioned, you have to turn the volume off because everything is sick/rad/dope/involves lots of whooping etc. I blame Josh Bryceland for that kind crap.

50:01 - watched their new video and turned it off after 5 minutes of people crashing.

Don't really hunt out riding vids anymore but always make an effort to watch Brandon Semenuk's stuff when it pops up on my social media feeds.

Stuff like Dirt/Mud Cows etc just died because every normal person was able to take a phone and upload a "sick edit" to youtube...

I used to love Dirt and it was my go-to inspirational video when it was released. Looks very dated now and the bikes look very sketchy and not suited. Spose this makes the riding more impressive but it hasn't aged well.

Also used to like the Kranked series and number 3 is still quite a good mix I think.
