I'm pretty sure i'm over analysing this, but humour me anyway...
I'm kinda settling on an Orange Clockwork 120 (650b) as a new bike. Will be used for, XC trail riding from the doorstep, trail centres, perhaps something like Nan Bield / Snowdon once a year (will be an only geared bike).
Orange are established & sorted so clearly know what they're doing.
Orange seem to spec long HT chainstays compared to some others. Eg: Clockwork = 440mm, Crush = 443mm, Hummer = 422mm, Soul = 428mm, Zero = 420mm etc...
I understand that its only one figure in the whole geometry package, so heres the other numbers:

Whadda ya think?
P.S. Why does Brant not have a 650b frame?
Brant does, thanks.
It's chainstays are 420mm long btw.
Brant does
Ok, i'm clearly being thick here, which one? I've looked on your website and i'm missing something cos they either state 26" or 29" as the wheel size.
😕
45650b
440mm is comparable to 29er chainstays. It's not overly long but if you're looking for a short back end it wouldn't be the first choice.

Brant is Pact Bikes these days, not On-One.

Ahh, ta, i'd forgotten about Pact Bikes, Brant seems to shift bicycle companies quicker than a dodgy east end second hand car dealer does ringers!!! 😉
So Brant, wassappening with Pact???? Whats in store? in the pipeline?
Any non burly, lightish, slackish, short travel, HTs???? Fit for riding up and down for 30/40miles and for trail centre type stuff too??
Go on, giss a sniff.
My Banshee has 440mm chainstays and it's considered on the long side but perfectly acceptable.
My Kona Honzo 29'r is something daft like 410mm, shows how much shorter hardtails can be even with big wheels.
It depends how long the front centre is.
But unless you can't manual and consider it an essential part of your riding experience I wouldn't be too bothered.

Aye.
Had a quick go on a mates 650b crush. I didn't like the longer chainstay, but then I'm used to bikes with short chainstays, so not surprising.
Personal preference really.
