Anyone know how rideable this is if we were to go on it at Burrs and ride north towards Rammy?

Website appears not to have been updated since the early 2000's and the map doesn't work…

I was in Burrs the other week with doggo and ventured up the start of it - it was a full on mud fest so I turned back.

Thanks - might have to have a rethink…

The other issue is that it's a footpath/walking trail - it certainly is further up in the Chadderton/Strongstry/Irwell Vale section with some strong anti cycling signage.

There are certainly better places to ride in the Ramsbottom/Rossendale area.

I think a fair few of the sculptures are rotting away.
The footpath from burrs to summerseat is just that, a footpath with lots of gates and probably soon to be made narrower with brambles and walkers.
The path is muddy towards irwell vale.

I'd sooner make the most of the trails along the old railway line to Greenmount then cut through the houses to Summerseat, up the cobbles and over to Nuttall park, see the odd sculpture, head through Rammy to stubbins then continue along the old railway line to irwell vale and Haslingden. Pick a route up to the panopticon then drop into rawtenstall. 🤔

Thanks all.

Small people want to go out on bikes - how traffic free is NCN6 from Bury to Rammy, and where do you get on it?

The old railway line from Bury is easy enough to find. Make sure you visit the town hall in Bury and check out the new cycle lanes 😉🤣.

Google maps shows the bike paths if you select the cycling filter.

I know how rideable it is.

You'll only try it once

Unless you really like stopping every couple of hundred yards to throw your bike over another gate

Particularly if you've small people, just ride up route 6. You can get straight on it from Burrs Park

I posted a photo earlier on the Bury Cycle Lanes thread. Its like this all the way from Bury to Rammy...

There’s evidently a wee coffee caravan along NCN 6 which does nice coffee.

You've no shortage of places to get a coffee or ice cream in the vicinity. Mrs P's Ice Cream is good for both when you get into Rammy

It'll be good fun for the kids to slalom the pensioners and avoid getting garrotted by the extendable dog leads on Route 6.
