Incoming calls on my wife’s phone show the contact photo full screen when it’s ringing. Mine just shows a small contact photo and their name.
I can’t find anywhere to change this setting, is it that it’s not a thing anymore in ios16 or am I just not looking in the right place? She’s still on 15.
I don’t think mine’s ever shown full screen photos and I assume hers always has? I only noticed because I was calling her phone to try and find it.
Cheers
I was wondering this just yesterday! Saw it on a telly programme, definitely an iPhone, thought 'why doesn't my iPhone do that?' 🤔
Instructions for iOS 15 here - and it also works in iOS 16

I realise now I posted this in the wrong place…
It’s not the full screen when unlocked option, it’s just the actual contact picture.
My incoming call screen takes up the whole screen it’s just that it shows the contact picture in small circle rather than covering the whole screen, like my wife’s phone.
It’s no big deal, was just curious as I couldn’t find anywhere to change it.
OK I’ve sorted it I think.
You have to first edit the picture to Portrait 2:3 ratio, then assign to contact.
When they call their photo will show full screen.
I can’t find anywhere to change this setting,
🤣 as we say in this house when the thing sought is in a fairly obvious place ‘did you look everywhere’?
Settings->phone-incoming calls->full screen/banner.
@prettygreenparrot I did look there but it is not the answer. Did you read the question? 😁
🫢 sort of read it. I see now I elided some detail: you have the full screen setting on but the picture is still tiny. Excuse my facetiousness.
It seems what you needed to fix was not a setting but some photo configuration. You fixed it. Well done. I wouldn’t have had the patience. Though thanks to your post I’m now experimenting with full screen vs banner.
