You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So we uttered the fateful words 'just 1 more loop' Strava times may have been mentioned and I went a bit big on one of the jumps at Philips park.
Nice folk at a&e patched me up but it appears I've got a level 4 ac separated collar bone?
Got sent home in a sling to see how it all settles down and an appointment at the fracture clinic in a week.
Obvious question though... How long off the bike?

Unklehomer's Mystic Die* says...
...3 months.

I don't think that's an AC separation. That looks to me like a busted collarbone. I had a level 3 last year and was biking again (tentatively) in 4 weeks.
I am useless at interpreting X-rays though.
Have you seen a shoulder specialist?
If not I would strongly recommend via GP to be seen by someone who is a specialist. I didn't, accepted what turned out to be poor advice from consultant who whilst an orthopaedic surgeon was a knee specialist to leave it and it never healed. Three years later had to have plate put in on the advice of a sports injury consultant who specialises in shoulder injuries, who saw original x-rays and said, "that was never going to join". If I had had it plated at the time, would not have had the hassle and pain.
Very recent advice from the GMC is that if any real doctors are reading this and give advice, they should also post their full name & GMC number. I suspect this has reduced to zero your chances of getting any meaningful advice on here.
A quick look on a phone is not the best - I guess they are probably right

Whilst I admit X-rays is not my field that doesn't look like a break. Certainly looks more like a separation.
Time off bike. Well it looks like you made a good job so could be a little while, talk to them at the clinic and explain what kind of cycling.
Looks like a separation to me too! (Always good when your opinion agrees with that of the medical folk...)
My non-medical opinion is that it's probably difficult to predict this early how long it'll take to heal. Sure you;ll get a better idea at the clinic next week. Make sure you ask them everything you want to know.
In the mean time - healing vibes!
Never mind that, is there any snow at Phillips Park?

I will say again, X-rays is not my field but spotting fracture signs is a lot more of my field. X-rays give a huge advantage I don't have, obviously, that certainly looks separated.
Aye - that's a separation - gd4 one too. Time off the bike? I'd leave it until it stops hurting a lot.
Well the consultant certainly sounded like he knew what he was on about and would be the one doing the op! Should have said that when i go to the appointment at the fracture clinic I need to be ready to be operated on.
No snow at Philips park. Saw hora too.
did hora come along and laugh at you for wearing a backpack ?

Doubt that he's more qualified than someone who once had an AC separation. 😆
Kai Crispin Brett?
Dislocated shoulder, I was back on turbo within 3 weeks, road bike in 5 abd MTb within 4 months. Do your exercises when you see the physio!
Merde 🙁 Get on a turbo trainer. Next few weeks weatger is pap anyway.
Zero snow btw.
So, what backpack for Phillips park?
