Hi
I have a Canyon CF Lux.
Just been fitting the gear cable. Running 1 by. All new inner and outer. Shifter and rear mech worked perfect on previous build. Shimano parts.
The problem I have is that the shifting just isn't smooth.
The cable goes from shifter into frame, out the bottom (near bb) then outside to rear mech.
I can feel that its quite smooth shifting up (but had better) but sticky going down.
I have fitted brass ends to cable outer thinking the plastic ones give to much, but still the same.
I feel that its the internal part that causes this.
I would like to fit the outer all the way but this would mean drilling the top hole out to take the outer through it. (bad idea?)
Anyone have/had the same problem?
Thoughts?

Run a temporary single outer and see if this cures it.

You are using Shimano inner cable?

Have you tried polishing the cable with metal polish then running it through fingers wetted with a waxy chain lube?

I'll have to try full length of outer.
Yes shimano inner.

Has the cable snagged/got wrapped round anything inside the downtube?

The reason I ask is I have replaced the cabling on a Strive which sounds a very similar set up and the first time I got the cable through it had wrapped round another cable inside the tube. know yours is only 1x but may there be internal fittings?
