Whilst looking for a RAM mount for my Etrex 20, after giving up on the zip tie mount. I came across this -

Anyone seen this before and has anyone tried it? Tempted to get one printed from a 3D online services.

Anything has to be better than the current Garmin offering! Pretty certain I started a thread to moan about it.

Damn i was hoping you could but that as the garin version is gash
Does not secure the GPS to it
Does not secure itself to the bars

It has two functions and does neither of them

If anyone here can print it i would be interested in a couple of these

I agree, Garmin version is terrible. I'm interested in one but it needs slightly changing to 31.8mm bar mount, unfortunately I don't have the skills.

I've heard many grumbles about the garmin mount but have always found the three I have to be fine. Never ejected the gps, stays in place - on stem and bars on different bikes.

I wonder if there are fakes about?

Far left hand side is the old style mount, far superior.

Bought mine from Garmin. It fell off, zip ties a rubbish idea for an expensive gizmo.

I believe an adapter to Garmin quarter turn is a better solution: https://www.amazon.com/Rec-mountsTM-Handhelds-eTrex%C2%AE30x-Touch35t-GM-GHG/dp/B017G5458E

*some modding required, as this adapter has 4 tabs instead of 2.

Bit bulky and damn expensive for what should be fairly easy for Garmin to rectify.

Like I say, have heard many complaints but all of mine have been fine for c. 10,000km of off road riding over the last year or so.

Mines are all zip tied on. They haven't fallen off. I do have the device on a leash just in case...

MadBillMcMad - this is the old style and used this for many years without incident:

Just to add that if you have longer slide rails then there is no need for the sticky out bit in the OP's pic.

Might attach to the handlebars better but still looks like the same mounting for the Garmin, so will still come loose from the mount itself.

There are cheap chinese copies around for about £3/4 on Amazon, etc, these are the shit ones with the 'noggin'/protrusion at the bottom which is not deep enough. The Garmin boxed ones from Wiggle etc for £8+ all work fine.
