Fixed another thorn derived puncture (rear) last night 👿 Anyway, I put the wheel back on the bike, put the bike up on the stand & it was obvious the tyre hadn't settled properly onto the rim. I attempted to seat the tyre inflating well beyond the running pressure, but no joy. So I deflated the tyre & applied Fairy liquid to both the tyre beads & re inflated. There was Fairy liquid on the rim & the brakes...loads of the stuff. Made a mental note to clean this off prior to todays ride....then forgot to do it.
My back brake was the best it's ever been. Fantastic bite, power & modulation. Qualities I never associated with V brakes & exactly the opposite effect I would have expected. I'm going to do the front tonight & see if I get the same result.

Sounds like the fairly liquid de greased everything, that's what it's for.
Fairy liquid = degreaser. So your rims/pads were dirty/oily/greasy and it cleaned them up...
