Are there any current working examples where a location primarily used for MX Trails has had MTB integrated and comfortably sitting alongside?
Not at the same time, nor on the same trails, more just utilising what typically would be suitable topographical features
Apex next to the M5 used to have a 4X track next to it, not sure if it still does. Looked quite good but was always there on the MX bike.
Yes, Launcherley has DH race tracks (built by the athertons and used for SW races) and a Motocross track used for races. Also APEX (at the side of the M5, vague I know) had 4X/duel tracks (used for races) and a nice pumpy jumpy SX style MX track. and plenty other MX tracks have BMX trails nearby
mccett - the 4X track was a good laugh, the MX track looked a lot of fun 😉
APEX is the one that springs to mind, just off Junction 6 of the M5 near Worcester.
Tunstall Forest in Suffolk is used for Motocross Enduros. The trails built by TROG seem to co-exist fairly well and the trail buidling owes something to the access the motocrossers orginally negotiated with the Forestry Commission.
i think they had one at Sheffield once but was closed after someone was killed. I believer it involved MX bikes
APEX is a stunning mx track, the lads that run it have done an incredible job with the place and when I went it was prepped to perfection. Didn't notice a 4x track though?
Iain
These are all good everyone, thanks. Any more examples?
The 4X track at APEX has been gone for quite some time now.
They shut the Apex 4X track down (ages ago) as the kiddies wouldn't wear helmets, which was a condition of Apex's insurance IIRC. The track was situated to the far left of the moto-X track.
