doesn't rely on deforming the top of the seat tube either so in theory less stress
but it looks so much neater, has been a big thing in bmx over the last few years so mtb is catching on
Neatness, in theory more crap can get in as the top isn't sealed surely?
I do prefer welded/brazed on seatclamp bolts though, such a neater solution than collars why did we ever change?
I assume there is some sort of internal collar in the seat tube so that when you tighten the bolt, the collar grabs the seatpost?
yeah, it's the same as a thomson elite stem steerer clamp
My old Pace used to have a separate cinch bolt collar that bolted onto the frame, with an o-ring seal between the two to stop crud getting in. I wish I still had that bike 🙁
