Hi all
How do you insure your bikes? Do you have it as part of your contents insurance or on a separate policy? Who do you use?
I'll be looking at cover for about £5k worth of bikes.
Thanks
Glenn
John Lewis gives up to £10000 cover for bikes if specifically added. Does nearly double the contents insurance but still half the cost from a specialist insurer. However, cover may not be as high- but as mine are bitsas new for old cover isn't appropriate.
pedal cover at £250 (contents but not buildings, 12k of bikes) for an SE london postcode
was with M&S before at £600 (until they stopped doing bikes at £4k) John Lewis wanted even more.
you get to choose the supplier so all my boutique italian steel isn’t replaced with whatever shitty plastic giant/speciallised/rubble/planet-x crap the loss adjuster thinks is a suitable replacement.
Contents. M&S here, but still on old cover.
Did have separate cover (Cycleguard IIRC), but recently moved house and switched the bikes to John Lewis contents. Cheaper, better cover, and fewer restrictions (no specified locks or security measures other than a locked garage).
Gringo, try Aviva. I have cover for mountain and road bikes with their buildings and contents policy. They actually lowered the premium on renewal, so I stuck with them. Was with M & S for a few years, but their prices went sky high. Not had to claim yet, thankfully, so can't help with that. Cheers.........and Happy New Year.
