I am not yet - nor have I ever been - a member of BC or CTC, but one of the reasons I am interested in joining, among others, is the insurance and legal protection they afford.

Well, last night Mrs SR asked me if I thought insurance and legal coverage was really necessary.

Her point arose from a sense of frustration, I think, over the fact that we were going through monthly expenses recently, and we seem to pay out for a lot of 'just in case' type things, that might be of questionable worth.

So... insurance/legal cover for riding: worth it? Or not really?

My mate has used the CTC legal expenses cover twice after being hit by cars. So he's had his monies worth.

Like all insurance, you only value it when you need it. You misjudge going across a junction and cause a bus to swerve into a cafe full of brain surgeons, and that £35 a year will seem like nothing.

Fwiw, a mate has just switched from BC to CTC as the family membership was far cheaper.
