Any experiences? Insurance company told me ival will contact me and they deal with Halfords.
It will largely depend on what you had nicked / and whether they can source a sensible replacement. If not got your lbs to go back to the insurer and try again. Try not to settle for something you don't want.
what bike was it as Halfords can't supply some makes. eg they couldnt do Marin when mine was pinched so I got a payout and got myself a nice Merlin which was much better value.
I dealt with ival 3years ago. Like all insurance companies they dragged their feet to start with (knowing they'll actually have to give YOU some money), and you may end up having to chase them every day or so (as I had to). Once it actually went to the final person in the chain, it moved on quite fast and communication wasn't bad.
It's my crash damaged Trek Madone. I said only the frame is damaged and was assuming they'd replace with the same but then they told me they deal with Halfords so not sure how that'll work out. I'd obviously want to try out any other options before agreeing to them - if they pushed a Boardman on me then I suppose that would be OK really.
Just finished dealing with iVal. Pretty pathetic initially needing a lot of chasing. You can certainly forget about their 48hr rule! IVal directed me to wheelies but were happy to payout a cash settlement when I said there was nothing suitable. To be fair, once my claim was up and running, they were pretty good.
You do have the choice of demanding actual cash out of the insurance company. Cheaper for them to go through iVal but if they can't supply an exact replacement then I'd demand money, not an alternative.
OK that's all good advice, thanks.

Zurich just sent me a cheque for the full amount within a week.
I often recommend them on here, but no-one listens 🙁
