Instagram sends a “it looks like you’re having trouble logging in to your account” email once or twice a week to my daughter. The email has links to follow (red flag!) but appears to be genuine. It comes straight into her inbox and not the spam folder. Is she having attempts made to get into her account or is someone after her login details? What is STW’s opinion on this?
or someone with a similar username who has sausage fingers...
I get these emails too. Always just assumed it was account hacking attempts.
I’d assume hackers too, and if the current pwd is anything reused or vulnerable to a dictionary attack, replace it with something like one of these...

Only downside is that unless you have a mighty memory you’ll (or your daughter will) become dependent on some form of external memory for passwords (lastpass, Apple keychain etc...)
I’d change the password and set up the 2 step verification. That way if the password is guessed, it’ll text a code to the phone as the final bit of security. If the hacker doesn’t have the phone they’ll not have the code.
If two factor is an option it’s always wise...
Thanks all, this was my worry. I’ll sort out the password.

This.
I use Insta loads, occasionally I get similar messages and occasional scam hacks.. 2step has stopped most stuff, but when she’s in insta she ought to report anything odd to them sharpish.
