Grim forecast all weekend... who's riding?

Might try and get out on the hardtail tomorrow as it looks like the rain will ease around lunchtime.

Video games all weekend with a couple of Zwift sessions and some chocolate cake. Sorted.

It’s offseason!   Only my second lie in of the year to date tomorrow, a short Zwift session at 1pm, then a few beers watching the XCO and Giro in the afternoon.

Actually I find the wet isn't the issue, its getting cold. I have had some really great rides in the wet. Slippery and exciting. Keep them short, make sure its warm and pick somewhere that offers a range of terrain. So for me it would have some slippery stuff, grippy stuff but not so muddy you just cant pedal. Start early so you finish early, hose the bike down, shower then stuff yourself with a roast lunch.

Somewhere sandy/gravelly works in the wet, as do trail centres.

Always find riding in the rain really envigorating, 2 hours yesterday afternoon was awesome. Obviously having decent clothing helps, but it's not cold at the moment. The rain means empty trails, with the added excitement of variable grip compared to the predictability of summers dusty trails. Get out there!

I'd ride in the rain - it's not quite windy enough to put me off - but I can't ride anywhere outside the city. Sod urban riding in this.

the added excitement of variable grip

Mud doesn't excite me, it annoys me because it slows me down.

As posted above, as a postie, you learn to tolerate rain when it's not cold.

However, I won't head out on the road bike if it's already raining or the roads are wet after a downpour (currently keeping an eye on tarmac outside, it stopped raining ~45mins ago, currently Met Office reckons it might not rain until gone 1800), because I don't want the South Downs lanes' filth all over my 105 drivetrain.

If I'm desperate for an outdoor ride and it's raining, I'll pop out for a short sub hour blast on the hybrid, rather than setting up the turbo.

I do enough walking at work (~8.5 miles today for example), but maybe go for a stroll if you don't fancy taking the bike out.

5 hours on the road bike tomorrow. Not massively enjoyable, but part of my base miles training plan, so needs must.
Roads will be a mess, but it’s got to be done.

Did 3.5 hours on the road bike this morning, first two of which were continual wind and rain. Wore a Castelli Perfetto for the first time ever - flipping amazing bit of kit, I was warm and dry the whole time even after two hours of solid rain. My boots on the other hand filled with water and at one point I stopped by a bench and emptied them and had to wring my socks out before continuing....

Just get out there! 4 solid hours on the road bike this morning in the rain. It was satisfying, quiet and beautiful

I have taken advantage of the quiet to go and chainsaw through a bunch of fallen trees blocking a disused trail. Hopefully it will become used again...

An hour or so at full pace on the winter road bike, half an hour each side out/back. TBH I'd rather that than sit in all day. Either that or a couple of hours on the rigid SS in the mud. Going out in bad weather is a good incentive to go for it full pelt, makes it more fun.

Sometimes a good few steady hours road riding in the drizzle isn't so bad on the right lanes. Hardly inspiring... but it does make the pot of tea and snacks back at home even better.

The best bit about riding in the rain is when you finish feeling all smug as you dry out and stuff your face.
