You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
A couple of us are going up to do GT and Innerleithen red / black routes for the last weekend in October. I see that the trail diversion at Innerleithen has been extended until the end of October now so it looks like it will still be in place when we go. Does it miss a large section? If so is it enough to make it not worth doing? I assume the Minch Moor descent is still open and then its on to the diversion?
Thanks
A lot of that closure is fire road and link trail but it's still going to cut the red down to not an awful lot. Pretty curious how they're doing that diversion actually, I can only think of one way and it'd be a wee bit non-red. Probably missing something obvious.
Sounds like a good excuse to go exploring, to me- there's way better stuff in that forest than the waymarked trails and it's not all mental. Angry Sheep and Green Wing for starters
Dunno how long you have to drive, but I'm nearly 2 hours away and wouldn't do that for inners red, even without a diversion.
What he said ^^^ so much better trails on the same hill.
ooohhh you'll start a fight by pointing out the Inners red is a bit crap!
Another, better, alternative would be Gypsy Glen. Only in the unlikely event of good weather though
We did it a few weeks ago, not knowing the diversion was in place, as we had some folk who were unwaveringly keen to do it (I'd not done it in years, so memory had faded on it a little!)
The diversion kicks in at the end of the 2-3 sections of singletrack from the top of Minch Moor. Where you would head along the rolling/flat singletrack section along to the forest road, which then takes you to the Plora Craig section, you head left for c200m, and join the last bit of Kitty Bag. Back onto forest road, heading right along/up to the main DH/enduro trails.
So, if anything it opens up a lot more options to head back down to the car park, rather than restricting things. I had Angry Sheep already planned as the alternative to Plora Craig, but ended up doing a Cresta/Gold Run mix, into Matador Lower which was good fun.
Thanks all, I’ve downloaded the Trailforks app and I can see that a good option would be to go down Kitty bay the angry sheep then back up to the red to finish off on Caddon bank.
Cool, cheers!
