Is it possible to ride from the top of Innerleithen to somewhere on the Glentress routes, I want to ride this weekend but Glentress is going to be a nightmare with all what’s going on there.
I do not want to ride on the road if I can help it. But I want beans on toast with cheese from the Glentress Cafe. I want to go over the top and not along the river route if possible.
I have heard of such a trail, please help.
There's a brand new cycle path linking Innerleithen and Glentress. The bridge over the Tweed was just being completed last time I passed under it. It goes along the river though..
An alternative is to head up past Glen House and come down the Gypsy Glen descent but that's a fair trot on its own.
There must be something from the Golf Course Road heading West though?
Yep, three ways but from the Inners carpark really.
1 Up and over Gypsy Glen and down into Peebles, then Janets Brae.
2 Or come into the Boundary Trail from Leithen Water. But, and its a big but, the Enduro has that as one of its stages. So possible no...
3 Ride to Cardrona and then the cycleway to GT
But unless you want to be with the crowds either take the café in Innerleithen or go natural across the SUW to the two cafes in the Yarrow valley.
Take a closer look at the Leithen water option - explore it properly and you'll find some nice woodwork hidden away in the trees.
Cheers guys, but I have no idea of any of the names you have mentioned. Have none of you got a marked up detailed map of the natural routes.
I should maybe speak to Steve at i-cycles, I know he knows about some routes round there.
