I had a problem with my tech lever. The body cracked at the point where the hose screws in due to the hose being pulled in a crash. The lever is 18 months old. Out of warranty.
I called Hope as i needed a lever body and no one had stock.
The guy on the phone was really helpful and simply said send it back and we will have a look. I fully expected to pay at least for the part and possibly for the rebuild and was more than happy with that. I was totally open about what had happened to the lever and didnt expect Hope to pick up the bill for damage.
I sent the lever on Wednesday this week. Its now Friday and the post has just arrived. In the post was a fully rebuilt tech lever at no charge.
3 reasons to buy Hope:
1. Great customer support on the phone.
2. Incredible turnaround time.
3. Very customer friendly warranty.
Cant thank them enough.
Amazing rep built on failing componenets and subsequent customer service...
Harsh when we're talking crash damage though Al. This is one situation where you actually can guarantee that the likes of Shimano would not have been so useful!

Not a failure in this case - they fixed the lever despite it being crash damage, and out of warranty. Save the nitpicking for when it's their fault.
Typical.
Ive used Hope hubs, brakes, stems, clamps etc for many years of hard riding.
The brakes have been faultless with numerous sets of M4's, Monos, 6Ti's.
Sure the bearings dont last long in the hubs but they are cartridge and pretty universal across the market.
This is the first problem I've had with any Hope product and the only time I've needed to use their customer service department.
You're entitled to your opinion cynic-al, helpful and constructive as always.
Yep similar story here, after a mix up over pro 2 and pro 2 evo wheel adaptors they sent me out free of charge some pro 2 142 adaptors, arrived the next day and even suggested I stuck the ones I had that didn't fit on eBay rather than send them back!
I like my Hope headset and BB, if they made hubs that didn't require ear defenders I might try those to. The brakes are over-priced though, could have bought two sets of XT and kept one set as your crash backups 😉
This is the reason I've just switched back to Hope brakes on my XC race bike. I agree that Formula/Shimano just don't go wrong that much, but at a muddy sticky British xc race/enduro all brakes fail eventually (or need pads) and usually at the big races the Hope truck is there. Like at SITS when they did me a killer deal on a set of four pads. Didn't notice a Formula van there....
got a full brake bleed and reset before the mega for free last year, top top guys
Cost v's function / reliability / performance is a very personal one but i think ill stick to my buy cheap buy thrice mantra.
Point taken on the hub though, i love it on my trail bike but had to resort to Shimano on the road bike for sanity's sake.
cynic al is the new tj
Aye, even I'd disagree with Al here, crash damage is different from the normal Hope fail/fix routine. Nothing but a good thing IMO
That'll teach me to skim-read the OP!
