Just a quick post to praise silverfish warranty dept.

I bought a YT capra CF pro brand new in june 2018, it came with raceface Next R cranks. The other day I noticed that the driveside crank arm had a bit of play, when I took it apart it became apparent that the metal insert in the crank arm had come unbonded from the carbon arm itself- a quick google confirms its a reasonably common problem.

Rather than deal with YT in germany I decided to email silverfish the UK distributor for Raceface, they quickly came back to me and asked me to send the cranks back to them, the cranks went back and this morning about a week after sending the cranks in, I received a new pair of cranks.

So thumbs up to Ben in silverfish.

Not so good that the cranks failed in the first place , but thats not silverfish fault, and at least the issue was dealt with well.

Good to hear that they've upped their game - they were atrocious for me a few years ago!

When the bearings went on by rebuildable bottom bracket after 5 years of use they rebuilt it for just the cost of parts very quickly.many years ago though.

Good to hear that they’ve upped their game – they were atrocious for me a few years ago!

Had a similar terrible experience when my RF cranks broke after two XC rides, was told I'd crashed them, that the had never had a set of the cranks fail in that way, etc, etc. Eventually gave in and warrantied them.

There was less fuss when the replacement set failed in the exact same way. And when my friends set failed. And when his replacement set failed. .....

They were great with me when my Raceface carbon cranks fell apart, and again when my RaceFace dropper seatpost broke after a few months

It’s almost like there’s a common theme....

Excellent service for me last month. Race face turbine dropper losing air (common issue as well according to google). 1 week later and received a brand new fox dropper and lever

I foolishly bought a cheapish set of Next SL cranks 4 years ago from an online retailer, which I can't remember. The first set that the pedal insert came loose in I sent back to where I bought them and from memory it took over 4 weeks to get a replacement. The 2nd, 3rd & 4th sets all went straight back to Silver Fish and I had a replacement within a week. The last set where replaced with Turbines, which are still going strong.

So in summary, Silver Fish excellent, Race Face carbon cranks, shit!

Oh, they also replaced a pair of 100% gloves that I bought whilst away in the Lakes that fell apart after 2-3 rides with just a copy of my bank statement.

They were excellent with me, replacing a couple of RF ISIS bottom brackets under warranty and also sorting out a respray on a Cove when the original paint flaked off in big lumps.

Sorted very quickly.

I contacted them (after trying RaceFace direct to no avail) about the lower seat clamp plate I lost off my RaceFace dropper post.

It turns out RF don't offer a saleable replacement part, so they couldn't order one. But they had a look around the workshop and managed to find me a spare!

So as far as I'm concerned they're bloody brilliant 🙂
