My bike has previously been running a Shimano mech/shifter/cranks with SRAM 10-50 and a SRAM chain. I’ve just got a new set of wheels for the bike that are XC race wheels (I don’t drive, live in a city, and the 2.6” magic mary and hans dampf on my “big” wheels are horrible on tarmac, so I’ve “de-mountained” my bike for the lockdown).
I bought a 10-45 cassette for the new wheeels, not noticing Shimano have a different mech for that cassette. I threw it on anyway and put on a Shimano chain that I originally used on the 10-50. With a chain that is far too long and no b-tension adjustment the thing just worked. I can’t get the jockey wheels anywhere near the 45 sprocket with the screw right out, but shifts up and down the cassette are fine. Pleasing.
