Keep it in your camelback, if the reverb fails you can use it to keep the post extended.

If it loses hydraulic pressure it'll drop to the bottom

No, if it loses air pressure it drops to the bottom. My first one did this when it blew a seal and I was miles from home pedalling with my knees reaching my chest. The silver clamp would have come in handy that day but of course I thought I'd never need it.

The button and lever is the hydraulic part. That's where my second one failed. And yes, it was stuck in full extension.

shame you did not have the clamp raising the seat by an inch would have made it way easier.
