I have a set of Fireball lights, i can cope with the power (more would be nice)but would like more run time.

They are Halogen and have 10w flood 20w spot and a 13.2V, 4Ah NiMH battery.
Being sparing with the lights, eg, one at once i get about 2 1/2 hrs, but when i say sparing i mean switching off iff we stop and sweating any punctures or mechanicals..Ideally it would be nice to have both lamps on and 3hrs ride time.

So can these lights be improved, bigger or better battery and 20w/35w bulbs? Plus a cheap headtorch as a back up?

As long a they have the same connectors then you can use any battery of similar voltage but higher capacity, maybe check lumicycles offerings and info. Beware of higher wattage bulbs if you plan on leaving them switched on when stopped, they generate lots of heat and may damage switches and connectors(and plastic lamp housings).

No problem, worth remembering that by the time you've upgraded the bulbs and battery, and possibly the charger, then you're very close to the price of a complete and up to date LED system.

Yep, i'm probably buying Hope Vision 2's but thought i'd check first. I'll sell the Fireballs instead.
