I’m thinking of getting a custom frame built in the States. If you’ve imported a frame how much roughly did it cost to import to the UK? Mine will be about $2200
Ta..

It's roughly 14% duty on compete bikes, 4.5% on parts, + vat at 20% + the courier handling fee at probably £30ish.

I think you need to include shipping costs when you calculate the percentage too.

It'll still come back more than you expect!

Pretty much as ginger said I think. Not bought anything from over there for a few years but was around 4% import + postage +VAT on all of that +plus a handling fee for Parcel force.

Another thing, warranty, if you have issues with your frame and have to return it you may get stung for fees again I believe.

If you build it up over here in the US and ride it, you could bring it back as sports equipment, possibly, perhaps.

Imported a frame from the states earlier this year, it was $700 and cost only around £40 in duty (pretty sure customs go it wrong).

I have known of people buying a cheap bike here, flying over with it, dumping and then bringing back a new (but ridden) bike home with them...
